Many people are unclear on some of the industrial robotics terms. Words such as arch-welding, acceloration level, and backplane can cause confusion when looking at different robots. It is important to understand the termonology so you can better understand how the robots work. Arch welding is a type of welding that creates an electrical arch. This keeps costs at a minimum making the process used in broad range. Acceloration level is the measure of joint speeds over time. Backplane is a term used for a circuit board containing sockets in which other circuit boards can be plugged in. Knowing these terms will help you determind what kind of industrial robot you are looking for as well as understand the jobs of robots.
